LOVE this idea.... I just can't stand the idea of going out to Walmart and buying something cheap that everyone else has. Since I'm redoing my own bathroom I think I'll spend the extra time and make my own bathmat.

Thanks for the great instructions!

I love to rag knit handbags and have used a lot of my fabric stash to create really pretty purses which I sell at mixedbag.etsy.com.
I tried gluing the strips together which works, but you have to plan ahead and allow time for the glue to dry. I tried tying them together but this definitely leaves tails hanging which looks fine on some purses. BUT....If you make a 1/4 inch slit at the end of each strip you want to attach, you can run the strip you want to attach through the slit you want to attach to, and then through the end of the strip you are attaching and pull until it is secure, you will not have any tails showing or any bulky lumps. I found this great idea in a great book on fabric knitting..."Fast Fun and Easy Fabric Knitting" by Cyndi Lyle Rymer. Check it out for further explanation on this technique.

Hello, a friend of mine and reader of my blogs told me about this entry. I referenced it on my blog dedicated to making rugs using the "naalbinding" method commonly known as "toothbrush rugs."

Since your craft is similar I've added a link on my blog too.
